Before you send
How submissions work
Every submission is reviewed by a person. We check the song is real, the lyrics match, and you have the right to share them. Approved songs publish immediately with a full page — credits, chart context and, when a video is matched, synced karaoke playback — and you get credited on your contributor profile.
What happens after you submit
It enters the review queue
Your song lands in moderation as a pending submission. Nothing is public yet.
An editor checks it
We confirm the song, compare the lyrics, and verify your rights basis. If something’s unclear we may email you.
It publishes right away
Approved songs go live immediately and you earn contributor points. Enrichment (artwork, richer credits) fills in shortly after.
Common questions
Do I need lyrics ready to add a song?
No. You can add the artist, title and genre now and complete the lyrics later — or read the Transcription Guide for the fastest way to pull and format them.
How long does review take?
Most complete submissions clear within a few days. A clear title, genre and readable lyrics move fastest.
Can I submit a song already on AskLyrics?
If the page exists but is missing something, add a note on the page or use the request a song form.
Do I need an account?
No — an email is enough. Adding a display username lets your approved contributions appear on your contributor profile and earn points.
