Information AskLyrics receives
Only what features need
Signing in with Google shares your name, email address and profile picture; AskLyrics never sees or stores a password. Using the site can also create: saved songs, folders and playlists; accuracy votes and community notes; information additions and video suggestions; lyric requests; contact messages and DMCA notices; and anonymous, aggregate counters for lyric views and video plays. A session cookie keeps you signed in and protects forms against forgery.
How information is used
Running the service, nothing else
Your email identifies your contributions to moderators and connects requests to their outcome. Aggregate view and play counters power the popular-now listings and are never tied to your identity publicly. Contribution history feeds the public contributor ranking only after editorial approval. AskLyrics does not sell personal information or use it for third-party advertising.
Third-party services
What leaves the site
Google provides sign-in. Embedded YouTube players load from YouTube when you press play, which is governed by Google's privacy policy. Album artwork, artist imagery and song data come from licensed and open catalog sources and involve no personal data.
Retention, deletion and requests
Your data, your call
Saved lyrics, folders, playlists, votes and notes remain until you delete them or your account. Moderation and takedown records are retained as required for legal compliance. To request an export or deletion, use the contact form or the address in our legal notices; requests are answered within 30 days.
