How song and chart facts are checked
Keep dated facts tied to a source
Chart imports must contain all 100 unique ranked title-and-artist pairs before they can replace the current Hot 100 snapshot. Release facts, recording identifiers and credits are stored with their source. When sources disagree, the page remains incomplete or carries the most narrowly supported claim rather than a guessed answer.
How lyric submissions are reviewed
Check permission before accuracy
A submitter must identify whether they are the author or rightsholder, hold a license or written authorization, or are contributing public-domain material. Review checks provenance, correct song matching, transcription accuracy and formatting. Finding the same words on another website is not treated as permission.
Corrections, notes and conflicts
Separate corrections from copyright claims
Community notes and information additions enter a moderation queue. Readers can vote on lyric accuracy, while editors retain source records for material changes. Copyright complaints use a separate priority workflow so disputed text can be evaluated and removed without erasing the audit trail.
What must be true before a page publishes
Every gate, or the song waits
A queued song is only released once it holds a timed lyric record, a video match that has been checked against the title and performer credit, stored release metadata, and an artist profile with independent information behind it. Failing one gate returns the song to the queue rather than publishing a partial page, and it is retried on later runs. A page that reaches publication with an element missing states the gap in its own copy; absence is written down rather than styled to look like completeness.
How timing and video matches are validated
Ordered timestamps and a checked recording
Follow-along playback requires two independent things: a lyric whose timestamps form a strictly ordered sequence, and an embeddable video reviewed against the exact recording the page describes. Timestamp counts and the covered span are stored and shown, so a partial sync is visible as a partial sync. Where readers report drift, offsets are collected and applied by consensus rather than by a single unverified edit, and a page keeps its readable stanza view whenever a dependable timing is unavailable.
How authorship and desks are labeled
No invented people
Pages name the contributor who stewards them and show the editorial status behind that stewardship. Editorial desk accounts are presented as organizations, never as invented fans or fictional bylines, and contributor rankings are computed from approved activity so they move only when reviewed work is added or removed. Voting on your own contributions, running multiple accounts to influence a score, or submitting material you have no right to share are all grounds for removal of the affected content.
Newsroom sourcing and corrections
Original text, corroborated announcements
News articles are written from public announcements that have been corroborated before drafting, are reviewed by an editor before they appear, and are never auto-published. They are original text rather than rewrites of another outlet's report. When a cited announcement is corrected at its source, the article is corrected to match rather than quietly deleted. Chart, release and credit corrections elsewhere on the site follow the same rule: the record is amended and the source of the amendment is retained.
