What happens when you request a song
A request is a vote. When you ask for a song, it joins a public queue our editors work through. The more people who request the same track, the sooner it moves to the top - so it pays to ask even if you think someone else already has.
We source from licensed providers
Approved requests are matched to a licensed lyric record and the correct recording, then checked before the page is built. That keeps credits and rights accurate.
You hear back by email
Leave your email and we will tell you the moment the page is live. No email is fine too - your request still counts.

Use the official title, not a lyric from the chorus. It helps us match the exact recording.

For collaborations, name the lead artist. Add featured performers in the note.

If there is a remix, live cut or clean edit you want, say so in the note so we build the correct page.

It depends on demand and licensing. Popular, clearly identified songs are sourced first. Leaving your email is the fastest way to know when yours is ready.
Does requesting cost anything?
No. Requests are free, and you never need an account to send one.
Can I request a song that is already on AskLyrics?
If the page exists but is missing lyrics or a video, request it anyway - your request tells us to prioritize completing it. You can also browse the Hot 100 or a genre hub first to check.
What if my request is declined?
Some songs cannot be sourced through a licensed provider yet. We keep declined requests on file and revisit them as availability changes.
